Rob Atkinson's Art : Rob Atkinson began decorating sleeveless undershirts when he was in high school. He used permanent ink markers or different colors, mostly black. Rob would wear these shirts any time the weather and protocol would allow. This gallery shows the designs of the shirts that we found among Rob's personal effects. Also shown are a hand-designed CD, and a painting Rob created as a Christmas gift for his mother, Jan Atkinson, in 2007. I couldn't resist including a Rob-as-art piece, created at Obamicon.me.

Las Vegas, October 2009 : In October, 2009, Jan and I escaped to Las Vegas with Jan's brother, Richard, and his wife, Elizabeth. One highlight of the trip was dinner on the patio of the Picasso restaurant at the Bellagio, right on the fountain. Most of these shots are from that evening. We also saw Jersey Boys at the Palazzo, and Terry Fator at the Mirage. Great shows!

Puerto Vallarta, 2005 : In late October, 2005, my wife Janice and I travelled with our great soul-friends Steve and Laura Hansen, and our newest soul-friend, Jan Thompson, for a week of blissful relaxation at a wonderful villa in Puerto Vallarto. We stayed in a lushly lovely place known as Villa Escondida: the hidden villa. Villa Escondida comes with its own cook, Angela, maker of the best food in Puerto Vallarta; a mozo, Angela's son Nacho; and two maids, Teresa and Aide, who make the place beautiful every day. In six days time, we left the villa only once, and couldn't wait to return! These are some of the pictures from this wonderful trip.

Your Bio

Hi! I'm John Atkinson, and I'm "Jan's man".

I started out quite young, and ever since, I've been racing through my life at the steady pace of one day per day, just like you. Along the way, I've gathered a lot of friends and experiences. I've been blessed with many friends I truly cherish like family.

I'm a computer consultant by profession, and a husband by privilege. I'm also the proudest father you'll ever meet, and the saddest, since our beautiful son, Robert, died on December 4, 2008, after being struck by a car at his college campus in Georgetown, Texas, just two days after his 22nd birthday.

John and Christine's Reception 10-1-2006 : On October 1, 2006, Christine Elliot and John McNeil celebrated their wedding with friends at the Rancho Santa Fe Farms Golf Club. These photos capture a few of the moments from this wonderful event. Love, blessings, and peace to you, John and Christine!

John McNeil/Christine Elliot "Rainbow" Party, 9/23/2006 : In anticipation of their upcoming wedding, Christine Elliot and John McNeil wanted a celebration, but not a "wedding shower". Instead, they declared their celebration a "Rainbow", complete with a pot o'gold at the rainbow's end. Guests placed money in a pot. We played a version of "The Newlywed Game" and the winner, Pat Mason, got 10% of the pot. The other 90% was donated to Americans For the Department Of Peace. In fact, Pat donated her 10% as well. Even as they party, John and Christine never miss a chance to further the cause of peace!

2006 San Diego Walk For Peace : On September 17, 2006, Jill McManigal and Danielle Gram, representing Americans For the Department Of Peace, (AFDOP.org,) beautifully organized a Walk For Peace in San Diego, one of 80 such cities conducting walks. The event took place at Redwood Circle in Balboa Park. About 300 people participated, and were treated to a wonderful music program for over two hours following the 3K walk.

DOP Father's Day 2006 Campaign : I created 100 postcards using these two images, to use in the "Picture This Dad, Celebrating A Father’s Love" campaign in support of the Department of Peace. I had them printed by OverNightPrints.com, whom we use for our local DOP printing. I had the cards in 4 days, and could have had them overnight, if I'd sprung for that service. The cards came out great! I just had to address and stamp them.
